What we found
- Risk across the industry, not a finding about this company: tea estate wages in Assam, Sri Lanka and Kenya are among the lowest of any export crop, often paid partly in kind (housing, rations). (partly offset by certification or direct sourcing) Source

Research notes This record covers Canadian Red Rose, the version offered online in Australia; the US blend is owned by Redco Foods and made under licence by Harris Tea. Canadian Red Rose says it is made with 100% Rainforest Alliance certified tea but publishes no country breakdown of its own. Its parent buys from about 30 countries, mostly Sri Lanka, Kenya, Bangladesh and India, and publishes a group tea sourcing list; shares shown are that group split. The parent sold its Kenyan, Rwandan and Tanzanian estates to Browns Investments in 2024. It aims for a living wage or income across its value chain by 2040, with no measurable steps due before then.
