Scan a product
See the brand's labour grade and an estimate for this product, from what it is and what it's made of. A leather shoe and a cotton T-shirt from the same brand can come out differently.
The camera picture stays on your phone. Only the barcode number is sent.
Barcodes work for chocolate, coffee and tea. For other products, we'll ask you for the brand.
What scanning covers today
- Chocolate, coffee, tea, fish & seafood and supermarket own brands
- Most barcodes are found straight away through Open Food Facts, a free product database.
- Clothing, electronics, homewares, jewellery and beauty
- We check UPCitemdb, a retail barcode database, and the barcodes of brands we've looked up, but coverage is patchy. If yours isn't known, pick the brand and the next person who scans it gets the answer straight away.
- Cars, bikes, solar panels and batteries
- These rarely have a barcode to scan, so search for the brand by name instead.
If a barcode isn't recognised, you can still search for the brand by name right there, or take a photo of the label and we'll work out the brand from its name or logo.
