Lacks transparency. Publishes some details, but doesn't show its workers are paid and treated fairly.

Japanese maker of bone china and porcelain dinnerware.

There's no proof Narumi pays more than the legal minimum, which in Indonesia is well below a living wage, and it has no full independent audit.

Why it's graded Lacks transparency

  • Not met: Meets 3 of 6 Good requirements.
  • Holds the grade back: It doesn't show that workers are paid a living wage, and isn't certified as working towards one. On Track needs at least one of these.
  • It isn't Harm on record, because there's no serious confirmed problem on its record.
  • Lacks transparency is still a poor grade: in supply chains like this, workers who can't be seen to be treated fairly are usually underpaid or unprotected.

Research notes Narumi makes its tableware in its own factories: Mie Narumi in Shima, Japan, its only Japanese plant, and PT Narumi Indonesia, which had about 900 staff in 2012 and mainly supplies overseas markets. No split between the two plants is published. Parent Ishizuka Glass adopted a group human rights policy in 2024 and says Narumi's Japanese staff are unionised, but no supplier audits, wage data or modern slavery statement covering Indonesia are published. No labour abuse reports were found.
