Research notes Joyya is a social enterprise formed in 2021 from the merger of Freeset (Kolkata), Liminal Apparel (Christchurch) and Common Good, with offices in India, New Zealand and the USA. Its tees, basics and bags are made in its own workshops in four communities in West Bengal, India, many employing women who have left Kolkata's sex trade. It is WFTO Guaranteed Fair Trade and uses GOTS organic cotton, and the 2021 Ethical Fashion Report found a living wage was paid in at least half its supply chain. It names its cotton farms and mills but publishes no audit results or wage figures.
