What it is
GOTS certifies organic cotton and other natural fibres from farm to finished product. As well as the environmental rules, every factory must meet social standards based on international labour law.
What it checks
- No child or forced labour
- Safe working conditions and freedom to join a union
- Since 2023, factories must assess the gap to a living wage
What it doesn't
- Audits are announced in advance
- It doesn't require a living wage to be paid now
